Titania Inglis was born and raised in Ithaca, New York, but didn’t discover her love for design until spending a year abroad in Denmark. Titania’s womenswear line is a study in contrasts – minimal, yet lush; tough, yet feminine; modern, yet rooted in traditional handwork. Her unique designs reflect a strong emphasis on craftsmanship as she drapes each piece by hand in her Brooklyn atelier, then has them sewn in a small factory in New York’s garment district. Her line’s materials, which include organic cottons from Japan, vegetable-tanned leather, and unused stock fabrics from the local garment industry, are selected with as much thought to their environmental impact as to their fashionable quality.
Titania utilizes a range of eco-friendly, sustainable production techniques – from rust dyeing, bias cutting and zero-waste pattern making, to dip dyeing with natural dyes. Her process-based approach comes from her studies in Denmark where she was taught the importance of honesty in materials. Titania was honored for her designs – and her environmental consciousness – with the 2012 Ecco Domani Fashion Foundation award in Sustainable Design. Titania’s blend of sustainable practices and timeless fashions are a wonderful addition to the Master & Muse collection.
